Viva El Dia De Los Sleestaks!

Greeting and salutations. Yes, it has been a long and overdue wait since this post. three shows in a row is enough to keep me away but better late than never. What have I been up to? This past Halloween marks possibly the craziest Halloween I've ever had. Prepping for shows and busting out my own hand-made costume,not to mention work and just keeping up with myself alltogether. The second in my art show display this year was the Dia De Los Muertos plush toy design show at Red Hot Robot Gallery in Arizona. It was a pleasure to be in the show among so many great artists,not to mention the fact that I got front and center top shelf for the show itself. None of these sold but hey,it's a great honor regardless,and now these toys will become prototypes for something else I have in mind. Thanks to Jason from red Hot Robot,and Sarah Jo Marks for hooking me up with the offer to get in the show.

O is for Opulence

So what has Nick The Ring been up to lately? Glad you asked. Well I'll tell ya. 3 shows back to back to back. one art,one plush one custom toy show.Any one else want to question my skills? oh you sir in the hat, yes?
Up first, the Alphabet show at Monkeyhouse. My piece? I went for the big O and boy did I get it! Mayra from Monkeyhouse figured out the title when he first stared at it. Can you? VERY GOOD! O is for Opulence.

As most of you can tell, I'm trying to showcase new talent among my blog. People I admire for their passion in their craft. This artist is no exception. Ladies and Jermtlemen, I give you JERM! This boy has mad skills. The drawing of my dog (RIP) BIGGIE he did for me is his first commisioned piece for me,anywhere for that matter,but it's only the beginning. His rendering brought me to tears of sadness and beauty. He is also learning to use a tat gun so for those of who who decide to get some ink,hit him up when he's ready. See more at his myspace link:

Hanging out at the Morg

After months of preperation for the Indiana Jones art show I finally got to take a break and had a nice night of hanging out with The Suckiest person ever,Sucklord aka Morgan. Here's to the only person who's ever gone through my toy box and was able to recognize every toy I grew up with. Also included is a nice photo taken of two birds getting it on in the Hotel lobby that he stayed at. You're sick Morgan,truly sick.I bet you do fuck Bumblebee!

Olestra? Oh no!

There's no anal leakage on this baby. I call him Drip. He's sort of like a Fatcap but with a bit more thought put into it. Comes complete with shaking marble inside his head and removable spray "cap".Get it?

God I love Eric B. and Rakim. Any excuse to sing that song! but yo! Time for me to start posting about what's been going on in my life again. Too much . But good things. First off,Kidrobots CArtoon Network series 1 toy release was aweseom. I got to Meet Matt Seinrich and Seth Green from Robot Chicken.Also a host of others who work for Cartoon Network.Always fun. The highlight? hmmm...Gving Seth Green my Speedy Gonzales toy that I tatted up with cheese references. KRAFT POR VIDA on one arm,QUESO in large Old English letters on his belly Tupac style. I even gave him a gold chain. Mr. Green noted that they have been looking for a Speedy toy but the price for one was super high on the collector's market. I knew it was meant for us to meet. Sigh.Yeah,I got a crush on him.What redhead do I NOT have a crush on?
